HISTEP is a teacher exchange programme organised by Hitachi to promote communication and cultural understanding among North American, European and Japanese nations by means of a cross-cultural secondary school teachers' exchange and educational programme. |

Electrabel, E.ON Kraftwerke and Hitachi intend to cooperate in a joint research project. Target of
the project is to design, build and operate a test facility to investigate the behaviour of different
solvents in the process for CO2 capture from flue gases. The main aim of the project is the
execution of scrubbing tests under real flue gas conditions with different chemical solvents. |

London – 20th February 2008: Following the introduction of its Class 395 bullet train to the UK in 2007, Hitachi Europe has announced that it is running a trial alongside Network Rail to test and introduce its ETCS-compatible signalling system. The system is based on the highly reliable Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system that is used in Tokyo, the most congested metropolitan area in Japan, as well as on the Shinkansen, Japanese Bullet Train. |

Hitachi Power Europe GmbH today announced that they have been selected to supply the core components for three new power plants being developed by Electrabel, the leading Belgian energy supplier. One of the plants will be built in Maasvlakte in the Netherlands, the other two in Germany, one at Stade and the other in either Brunsbüttel or Wilhelmshafen. All three plants are scheduled to be fully operational in 2012. |
