The Hitachi Design Centre Europe (HDCE),
originally founded in Düsseldorf in 1989, is a strategic
office of Hitachi Design Division, Japan, and closely collaborates
with Corporate Technology Group. HDCE was created to liaise
with external collaborators on global design projects, to
observe European design trends and define directions for research.
In 1997 the design offices in Germany and Italy were combined
and are now based in Milan.
HDCE undertakes comprehensive research to achieve long-term,
advanced design solutions rather than short-term product
styling and, as such, work with partners in wide-ranging
disciplines across Europe, both in the commercial arena
and in universities. |
